To the author’s credit, she rarely spoke of her terrible ordeal, even though we’ve been friends for over 20 years.
And in that time, I never knew her to display a moody side or negative demeanor or to ever be distrustful of anyone. And God knows she had the right to do so after what she went through. Instead, she’s remained her wonderful, nurturing, generous and warm self – and even came out of her abduction and rape a more beautiful person.
That’s almost impossible to ask of anyone. But that’s Danielle. It goes without saying that she can string words and sentences together in the same manner she’s been able to hold on to every friend she’s ever made, and is always looking to lend herself to anyone’s struggle.
Thank God, I have not been a victim of such a heinous crime, but in a weird and wonderful way Danielle’s writing and storytelling gave me the impression I could survive it, as long as I put forth the strength, effort and the tonnage of wisdom she lays out in this book.

Dr. Danielle Delaney transports the readers of her book to a moment in time that is impossible to imagine the horror of, as well as to a place of healing that many people who have endured less never even reach.

Danielle Delaney shares a veritable road map of tried and true ways to heal from trauma after she was raped, beaten up and horrendously violated. To recover from trauma is not a road for the fainthearted.
After I suffered emotional and mental abuse in my abusive marriage, I finally was able to honor, respect and value myself by following the same suggested practices in her book.

I actually cried when I read her story. I cheered when I read about her healing, and that she never gave up… no matter what. She lays out her heart and soul. Sharing her experience, strength, and hope, with us as she leads us into her life. Once we know her, and trust her, she leads the reader into their own personal healing.
Danielle gives the reader permission to take their time to heal, to feel whatever they feel. Dr. Delaney explains about the lasting affects of PTSD. She gives us a road map as to what might happen, as one starts to heal from trauma.

I am SO glad I found this book.
It helped me in more ways than I can even acknowledge and really helped me understand some experiences I was having. It also connected me with Dr. Danielle Delaney and she is so amazing to work with. I’m very grateful for her, and her decision to write this book because it helped me, and so many others, so significantly. ❤️

I was riveted from the first moment I picked up this book and read about Dr. Danielle’s traumatic event. I felt moved and inspired hearing her words of wisdom of how to heal and shocked at how the system is not set up to truly support victims.
Love all her work and highly recommend this book!
